There are many things organisations can do to reduce energy, water and waste costs and improve environmental performance.

Installing new equipment, upgrading building fabric and lighting, and improving processes can all save money. But a critical starting-point for all organisations is knowing how to effectively measure and monitor resource use.

Next month Resource Efficient Scotland, a programme from Zero Waste Scotland, is delivering complimentary training for skills development to Scottish SMEs.

Marissa Lippiatt, Head of Resource Efficient Scotland said:

“Measuring and monitoring is a key skill that all organisations should master, regardless of size or sector.

“By regularly measuring and monitoring your use of energy, water and raw materials, you’ll start to identify opportunities to reduce resource use, improve environmental performance and save your organisation money.

“Our workshop will cater for people of all experience levels. So whether you’re completely new to the topic and have yet to start measuring and monitoring your organisation’s resource use, or are an experienced practitioner looking for the latest case studies, tools and techniques, this workshop will help you.”

The workshop will take place at Edinburgh Zoo on Wednesday 1st June. The interactive event includes presentations by expert advisors, facilitator led workshop exercises and exemplar case studies to give SMEs all the skills and knowledge they need to be able to start successfully measuring and monitoring their organisation’s resource use.

Attendees will also receive free Zoo tickets and panda viewing.

Places are limited and businesses are being urged to sign up to ensure their place as soon as possible.

If you are unable to attend the free workshop, a series of webinars are also coming up in June:
