Investment for re-use and recycling in Scotland
Projects which are increasing recycling rates, reducing emissions and re-using resources are to receive a share of £8.4million in funding.
Around half of that money will be allocated through the Circular Economy Investment Fund to help 17 small businesses drive re-use of products and materials – a key element of Scotland’s circular economy ambitions.
Projects include re-using whisky by-products, waste plastic and household furniture.
A further £4.2million is being made available to some of the 26 councils signed up to the Scottish Household Recycling Charter – an initiative which is helping councils move towards a consistent recycling system.
The funding was announced by Roseanna Cunningham, Cabinet Secretary for the Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform, at the Scottish Resources Conference.
Ms Cunningham visited Marine Biopolymers at the conference.
