Clothes hangers. Coat hangers. It doesn’t really matter what you call them but there’s one thing that’s certain. You always either have too many or too few. If you’re in the ‘too many’ camp, here’s a few things you can do.
Household recycling collection
Sadly, hangers are not currently collected through household recycling.

Household waste recycling centre (HWRC)
If your coat hangers are broken try contacting your local council as local recycling centres have recycling containers for wood, metal and plastic where they could be recycled.

Other options
Unwanted clothes hangers can sometimes be donated to charity shops or given to dry cleaners who will use them again. Try giving them a call and see if anywhere local will accept them for reuse.
Some larger supermarkets have collection boxes for recycling clothes hangers - check with a member of staff for more information.

Recycling is constantly evolving and changing so check back for updates or try our recycling locator to find out what you can recycle at home and where you can recycle or pass on unwanted items in your local area.
