What to do with aerosol cans?
Did you know that aerosol cans are widely recycled?
Household recycling collection
Most local authorities in Scotland collect aerosols via your household recycling collection - this may also be described as your kerbside collection. Aerosols are normally recycled alongside metals.
If you are unsure which bin or container this is, check with your local authority.

Household waste recycling centre (HWRC)
Check with your local authority to locate your nearest household waste recycling centre.

What can you do?
Make sure that your aerosol is completely empty before you recycle it.
Aerosols can be stored for a long time - there’s no need to throw out a half-empty can, even if you haven't used it for a while.
Do NOT pierce, crush or flatten the aerosol before recycling.
Detach any loose or easily removable parts, such as the lid, and dispose of them with general waste.
