Zero Waste Scotland, Scotland’s resource efficiency and circular economy expert is looking for an experienced Project Manager to help Scotland reduce its food waste by 33% by 2025.

We need an excellent project manager that understands the food and drink sector in Scotland and is passionate about reducing food waste. As an experienced project manager, you will support the development and management of projects targeting food waste reduction in public sector bodies providing food and drink in schools, healthcare and prisons and in large food and drink private organisations. 

This role will help us deliver projects to build evidence that food waste reduction is possible even in challenging situations. It will support us to spread the important message of food waste reduction farther and faster than ever before and help fulfil the ambitions of Scotland’s Food Waste Reduction Action Plan .

The role involves designing and managing a range of complex, multi-stakeholder projects. The Project Manager is also responsible for supervising procurement processes including: scoping projects, setting goals, tender assessment and financial control.

The successful candidate will liaise closely with Sector Managers in the Food and Drink Programme and will report to the Programme Manager for the area.  You will also be required to collaborate with other teams in Zero Waste Scotland. This role will primarily support the public sector work of the programme but, where required, will also provide ad-hoc support to the wider work of the Food & Drink Programme.

The ideal candidate

To be successful in this role you will be a successful project manager able to demonstrate experience of working with public sector organisations or large businesses in the food and drink sector. You will be educated to degree level in a related discipline or hold equivalent experience in the target sectors.   Being a confident communicator and speaker is important in this role and having awareness of the complexities around food waste reduction in large organisations and/or public sector bodies would be an advantage.

Salary and benefits

£34,376 (pay range is £34,376 - £39,661 and the successful candidate will be appointed to the starting point).
