Partner (Energy Infrastructure)


Help Zero Waste Scotland to influence the adoption of circular principles as part of the country’s energy transition.  

Zero Waste Scotland, Scotland’s resource efficiency and circular economy expert is looking for an energy sector expert to drive change in the sector.  The circular economy plays a vital role in achieving net zero goals and this role offers a great opportunity to influence change and support practical action to meet these goals.

Focusing on the energy transition, the role offers extensive opportunity working with a wide range of stakeholders in low carbon energy technologies, oil & gas decommissioning, the EV transition, ports and the blue economy.  This is an exciting and pioneering role building on a body of evidence on the role materials play in our energy transition and the opportunities and benefits of adopting circular approaches.  

Role Overview

In this role you will lead Zero Waste Scotland’s work with the energy transition sector, working closely with colleagues, building on research, using your expertise to engage with and influence stakeholders, and supporting the business community to accelerate the pace of change.  You will build on established relationships as well as identifying new stakeholders and opportunities to embed circular thinking in the sector, in Scotland, across the UK, and internationally.  You will be responsible for a small budget and be part of a team working across key sectors in Scotland.

The ideal candidate

To be successful in this role you will be educated to degree level or equivalent with a good understanding of the energy transition and associated technologies.  You will understand the principles of circular economy and how to apply them to the energy sector. You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have demonstrable experience of influencing decision makers. You will be a team player, and able to work collaboratively with both internal and external multidisciplinary teams.

Salary and benefits

£42,635 (Grade E) (pay range is £42,635 - £47,317).

Location:  Stirling

This role is based in our Stirling office located next to Stirling railway station and is conveniently accessed from across central Scotland.  We are leading by example in reducing our carbon footprint by embracing permanent home working and actively encourage this for colleagues where practicable. There will be times for business needs that you are required to attend the office or a client location (normally within the Central Belt of Scotland), therefore applicants must live within a daily commutable distance of Stirling.
