Information Governance Manager

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Zero Waste Scotland, Scotland’s resource efficiency and circular economy expert. We launched our new Corporate Plan in autumn 2019 and are looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to play a lead role in the development of a corporate information strategy to support the Plan, collaborating with colleagues to ensure it is effectively embedded into the organisation.

Additional key responsibilities include:

  • Providing a comprehensive business information service, playing an integral role in the company’s Operational Management Team and line managing the Business Information team;
  • Leading in the development and monitoring of systems, policies, procedures and frameworks to ensure that Zero Waste Scotland complies with all relevant legislative and funder requirements;
  • In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations, representing the organisation as the Data Protection Officer;
  • Ensuring that standards are in place for information and records management;
  • Leading on provision of advice to ensure that appropriate legal and contractual agreements with third parties (e.g. data sharing, partnerships, confidentiality, intellectual property, licensing) are in place to enable activity whilst minimising risk to the organisation;
  • Developing an integrated approach to management and reporting of information and knowledge across the organisation to drive cultural change and improve performance.

The ideal candidate

To be successful, you will have a degree or professional qualification in a relevant discipline and/ or significant demonstrable experience in a similar role. You will have had responsibility for providing a comprehensive business information and/or information governance service to an organisation.

This role will be required to collaborate internally and externally to drive cultural change around information and knowledge management, therefore you should have outstanding communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with a strong team-working ethos.

Highly developed planning, organisational and project management skills are required along with an in-depth knowledge of the GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, experience in developing a programme of compliance for Data Protection and a sound understanding of legal requirements and best practice in managing information and data, evidenced by practical experience.

Salary and benefits

The pay range is £48,073 to £53,414 and the successful candidate will be appointed to the starting point.

This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months.

This role is based in our Stirling office located next to Stirling railway station and is conveniently accessed from across central Scotland.
