Consultant - Business Investment

Zero Waste Scotland, Scotland’s resource efficiency and circular economy expert is looking for an experienced Business Investment Consultant to be responsible for supporting our strategic partnerships and driving circular business innovation through investment support.

Our existing Circular Economy Investment Fund (CEIF) is an ERDF funded grant programme that supports SMEs in delivering innovative technologies and business models, securing leveraged investment, creating jobs and delivering significant carbon savings.  The CEIF will run until 31st December 2022 and this role will play a key part in supporting new and existing SME businesses access business support from the CEIF to deliver innovative projects capable of driving the radical change needed to meet Scotland’s net zero commitments. The role will also support the development and implementation of new investment services once the ERDF programme comes to an end.

Working closely with and being directed by the Manager (Business Investment) this role will support our Business Investment activities in Scotland.  As a key contact in this specialist area, the role will be specifically responsible for managing customer relationships, providing expert advice and support, influencing and negotiating with stakeholders and customers to adopt circularity in new and innovative ways to reduce carbon emissions.  The role is diverse in its nature and will require technical & business  knowledge as well as experience in assessment of funding applications, customer relationship management and project management.

The ideal candidate

To be successful in this role you will be educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline.  If no relevant degree/professional qualification, then must be able to demonstrate relevant specialist experience and an ability to transfer that knowledge to others.  Applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Demonstrable experience of stakeholder engagement and customer relationship management
  • Successful in managing, or being part of, complex partnership projects or programmes in the public and/or private sectors
  • Strong organisational skills with experience of developing and implementing project plans successfully
  • Experience of managing funding contracts and external contractors to deliver services

Salary and benefits 

Pay range is £36,115 - £41,260 per annum, Grade F, and the successful candidate will be appointed to the starting point.

Location:  Stirling / Flexible / Homebased working considered

This role is based in our Stirling office located next to Stirling railway station and is conveniently accessed from across central Scotland.  We are leading by example in reducing our carbon footprint by embracing hybrid and permanent home working and actively encourage this for colleagues where practicable. There will be times for business needs that you are required to attend the office or a client location (normally within the Central Belt of Scotland).
