Our Commitment to Confidentiality and Privacy

Information that you provide to Zero Waste Scotland is treated in strict confidence and managed in compliance with all applicable regulations. Disclosure is only to the extent required by law or an applicable regulatory requirement.

We will only disclose confidential information:

  • To our staff, contractors and agents to the extent that is necessary for the purpose; and
  • Otherwise to the extent required by law.

In sharing confidential information with staff, contractors or agents we ensure there are appropriate agreements in place imposing a duty to maintain confidentiality. We are responsible for any unauthorised disclosure by our staff, contractors and agents.

While taking every reasonable step to safeguard the integrity of information supplied to us, if we become aware of a potential security breach affecting confidential information you have supplied to us, then we will advise you promptly, as part of our data breach process. In the event of a breach by one of our contractors, your legal recourse would continue to be against Zero Waste Scotland.

This statement does not give us any rights in your confidential information, other than as is necessary for the purpose. No copyright notices or similar are removed from any confidential information that is shared and we do not make any promises or other claims in relation to the accuracy or quality of any confidential information that we receive.
